Earth is often called the 'Blue Planet' because there is so much water on the surface of the Earth that it looks completely blue when viewed from space.

The amount of water on Earth always stays the same - approximately 332.5 million cubic miles!

It just travels and changes form throughout the water cycle.

Water is essential in our world but in case you need convincing, check out National Geographic's called '5 Reasons Why Water Rules'.

Check out the interactive activities and quizzes on the Discover Water website to learn more about water.

Last week, I read the story 'Nibi's Water Song' by Sunshine Tenasco, which inspired me to research and learn more about water in Canada. Here is another story called 'The Water Walker' read by the author Joanne Robertson. Click the cover to go to her read aloud.

Meet Autumn Peltier, an Anishinaabe teen from Wikwemikong First Nation in Ontario. She works to speak out and bring awareness to the importance of protecting water. Watch the video below to find out more about this Canadian Water Protector.

Do you know where the natural water features are in your community? There are so many beautiful parks in Surrey for you to check out. Click here to find one that is close to you and perhaps you can take a walk there with your family one day.

Green Timbers Urban Forest, Surrey BC.

If you want to read more about water, here is my weekly ebook recommendation:

The Earth and the role of water by Shirley Smith Duke. Click on the picture to go straight to Holly Library website and borrow!

Keep reading and let's take care of our world, Holly Hawks!

Love, Mrs. Myles
